Gecko Cleantech is a leading national supplier of spills response equipment, clean-up products and hazardous liquids storage solutions. They offer advisory services that assist companies to comply with environmental and OH&S regulations and create safer workplaces. Based in Goulburn, New South Wales, the business has operated since 1997.

Needs Analysis

Operating airports and keeping runways, access roads and aircraft hangars safe, involves the storage and use of chemicals and hazardous materials such as oil and fuel, biological materials, fire-fighting foam, solvents, and various other substances.

Spills can and do happen, and airports span a large footprint so there’s a lot of ground to cover. Environmental and safety imperatives to keep people and aircraft safe mean it’s essential spills are contained and cleaned up as soon as they occur.

The three most critical issues our customer, Gecko Cleantech, asked us to solve were:

  1. The trailer needed to have modular shelving that could be configured to the needs of the operator, enabling secure storage and organisation of tools and equipment, and ensuring they could attend to spills as soon as they occurred.
  2. Class 2 reflective signage was required on the trailer to clearly identify it as a Spill Response vehicle, ensuring it had high visibility night and day, and right of access across the airport.
  3. The trailer needed to be manoeuvrable, easy to hose out and maintain, and be rust-proof.

Solution

Gecko Cleantech teamed up with Hidrive and the result was the highly specialised Gecko Cleantech rapid response trailer. This quality Australian-made product is fitted out to meet the current and future needs of our client.

Features such as automatic replenishment of spills absorbents are a game-changer, meaning technicians never need to waste time refilling receptacles in an emergency.

We designed this fit-for-purpose trailer to enable technicians to quickly reach any part of an airport when spills occur. The trailer is fitted out with high quality storage, shelving and accessories that enable crews to organise all their gear.

Constructed of aluminium, it won’t rust and includes a range of safety features — such as spring-loaded catches on the underbody rear roller drawer to prevent it rolling open when in use on sloping ground, which protects operators and other vehicles.
